General Fee Schedule: Mediator Matthew House, J.D.

Mediation Time (In person, via Zoom, or via telephone)

  • $246 per hour; two-hour minimum per session

Email

  • Emails to Matthew: Flat fee of $50 for all emails received in a calendar day. If all emails on a given day pertain solely to scheduling and no other aspect of mediation, there will be no fee for emails sent that day.

  • Emails from Matthew: Standard Fee, billed in 0.25-hour increments (Note: Emails concerning only scheduling or canceling appointments will not be billed.)


Documents Reviewed

  • Appraisal or market analysis concerning real estate: (0.5 hour)

  • Active or past divorce judgment, petition, or order: (0.5 hour)

  • Other documents: $25 per page or partial page reviewed. For example, if Mr. House reviews three pages of a 20-page document, you will be charged for three pages, not 20.


Marital Settlement Agreement Basic Drafting Fee

  • 2.0 hour ($492) if you have no children younger than 21

  • 3.0 hour ($738) if you have one or more children 18 to 20 years old and no minor children

  • 3.5 hour ($799.50) if you have one or more minor children

The Basic Drafting Fee includes all of the following:

  • Your access to your intake file

  • Mr. House’s review of your intake file

  • Mr. House’s drafting of the essential components of your Marital Settlement Agreement and Parenting Plan

  • Completion of your child support calculation worksheet

  • The preparation and review of notes before and after mediation sessions

Fifty percent (50% of the Basic Drafting Fee is due upon scheduling the first mediation session. The remaining 50% is due upon scheduling the second mediation session.

Discovery and Drafting

These are the fees for the discovery (reviewing documents) and drafting (inclusion of relevant details in the Marital Settlement Agreement). If you do not have a particular asset, you will not be charged the fee associated with it.

Real Property

  • Real Property held by one party and to remain held by the same party after dissolution, with no change of title: (0.3 hour).

  • Real Property to be sold, transferred, or jointly held (0.5 hour). If jointly-owned real property is to be sold, transferred to one party (even if the sale or transfer is to be deferred), or remain jointly held, this fee will be charged.

Retirement Accounts and Investment Accounts

  • Individual Retirement Accounts (Traditional or Roth), Brokerage Accounts, and all other investment accounts except employment-based accounts:

    • Partially or wholly transferred to the other party: (0.5 hour per account)

    • Wholly retained by the party in whose name it is titled: (0.25 hour per account)

  • Employment-Based Accounts: (401(k), 403(b), 457(b), Stock Options, Employee Stock Ownership Plans, Employee Stock Purchase Plans, Restricted Stock Units, and any other account with similar characteristics):

    • Partially or wholly transferred to the other party: (1.0 hour per account)

    • Wholly retained by the party in whose name it is titled: (0.25 hour per account)

  • Oregon PERS Tier One, Tier Two, or OPSRP:

    • 0.5 hour per account transferred wholly or partially to the non-employee spouse

    • 0.25 hour if wholly retained by the employee spouse

  • Oregon PERS IAP:

    • 0.5 hour per account transferred wholly or partially to the non-employee spouse

    • 0.25 hour if wholly retained by the employee spouse

  • State Public Employees Retirement System Accounts from States Other Than Oregon:

    • 1.5 hours per account wholly or partially transferred to the non-employee spouse

    • 0.5 hour if wholly retained by the employee spouse

  • Health Savings Accounts (HSA), Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA), and Dependent Care Assistance Plans (DCAP)

    • 0.5 hour per account transferred wholly or partially to the non-employee spouse. (Usually, FSA and DCAP cannot be transferred.)

    • 0.2 hour per account wholly retained by the employee spouse

  • Federal Employees Retirement System (FERS):

    • 1.0 hour per account transferred wholly or partially to the non-employee spouse

    • 0.25 hour if wholly retained by the employee spouse

  • Military Retirement:

    • 1.5 hour per account transferred wholly or partially to the non-employee spouse

    • 0.5 hour if wholly retained by the employee spouse


Other Assets

  • Vehicles:

    • No charge for up to three vehicles

    • 0.1 hour for each additional vehicle

    • For purposes of this Fee Schedule, “vehicle” means a motorized vehicle that has a title and a Vehicle Identification Number (or the equivalent thereof)

  • Any other asset not enumerated above will be discussed in mediation. The fee, if any, will be confirmed at the first session.

Itemized Fee Schedule

Fees Not Paid to Matthew

  • Paralegal fee of $500 paid directly to the independent paralegal (optional but highly recommended, so that you do not have fill out your own divorce forms or file them). Here is a description of her services.

  • Oregon law requires a specific divorce parenting class. The fee ($70 to $200) is paid to the course administrator at the time that you register for the class.

  • Filing fee: As of June 13, 2026, the filing fee is $301.
