Beaverton/Portland Divorce Mediation Fees

My fees are based on a Standard Fee of $270 per hour.

I am the only law-degreed divorce mediator in the Portland metropolitan area who is also a Family Law Financial Analyst, Parenting Plan Specialist, Notary Public, experienced educator, and provider of free services to the teenage and pre-teen, teenage, and young adult children of my clients during and after mediation.

Based on the results of my research on publicly available websites as of August 15, 2026, I have concluded that I offer the lowest publicly posted hourly rate among Portland-area divorce mediators with law degrees. (Comparison methodology available upon request.)

If you have no children younger than age 21:

Typical Services Provided:

Two mediation sessions of two hours each: (4.0 hours)
Marital Settlement Agreement Basic Drafting Fee (2.0 hours)
One-hour Marital Settlement Agreement review session and one-half hour for one round of revisions (1.5 hours)

Anticipated Fees for Typical Services: $1,975 (7.5 hours)

Before Session #1: $810 (two-hour first session plus half of the MSA Basic Drafting Fee)
Before Session #2: $810 (two-hour second session plus half of the MSA Basic Drafting Fee)
Before the final MSA review session and revision time: $355 (45-minute review session and 30 minutes of revision time (one round of revisions to the MSA)
Before each additional two-hour session, if needed: $270 per hour (billed only if incurred)
After final mediation session: Any additional fees based on the agreed-upon conditions of the MSA. The possible fees are listed in the General Fee Schedule.

If you have children age 18 to 20 and no minor children:

Typical Services Provided: (10 hours)

Three mediation sessions of two hours each: 6.0 hours
Marital Settlement Agreement Basic Drafting Fee: 2.5 hours
Basic Structure (2.0 hours), Child Support Worksheet (0.5 hour)
One-hour Marital Settlement Agreement review session and one-half hour for one round of revisions: 1.5 hours
Meeting(s) with the college-age child: FREE

Anticipated Fees for Typical Services: $2,695

Before Session #1: $875 (two-hour first session plus half of the MSA Basic Drafting Fee)
Before Session #2: $875 (two-hour second session plus half of the MSA Basic Drafting Fee)
Before Session #3: $540 (two-hour session)
Before the final review session and revision time: $405 (one-hour review session and 30 minutes of revision time)
After final mediation session: Any additional fees based on the agreed-upon conditions of the MSA, billed only if incurred. The possible fees are listed in the General Fee Schedule
Additional mediation sessions after the first three sessions: $270 per hour (only if incurred)

If you have minor children:

Typical Services Provided:

Three mediation sessions of two hours each: 6.0 hours
Marital Settlement Agreement Basic Drafting Fee: 3.5 hours
Basic Structure (2.0 hours), Parenting Plan (1.0 hour) and Child Support Worksheet (0.5 hour)
One-hour Marital Settlement Agreement review session and one-half hour for one round of revisions: 1.75 hours
In a full divorce mediation process, there is no fee for your kids (ages 12-22) to meet with me, as long as I have time available.

Anticipated Fees for Typical Services: $2,960 (11.25 hours)

Before Session #1: $995 (two-hour first session plus half of the MSA Basic Drafting Fee)
Before Session #2: $995 (two-hour second session plus half of the MSA Basic Drafting Fee)
Before Session #3: $540 (two-hour third session)
Before the final MSA review session and revision time: $405 (60-minute review session and 30 minutes of revision time (one round of revisions to the MSA)

Before each additional two-hour session, if needed: $246 per hour (billed only if incurred)
After final mediation session: Any additional fees based on the agreed-upon conditions of the MSA. The possible fees are listed in the General Fee Schedule.

Fees Not Paid to Matthew

Paralegal fee of $500 paid directly to the independent paralegal (optional but highly recommended, so that you do not have fill out your own divorce forms or file them). Here is a description of her services.
Oregon law requires a specific divorce parenting class. The fee ($70 to $200) is paid to the course administrator at the time that you register for the class.
Filing fee: As of August 15, 2026, the filing fee is $301.
