Divorce Mediation Built on 21 Years of Experience

Resolutions based on the 'Ohana framework—every detail and every family member matters.

Your divorce is a legal event that carries lasting personal and financial consequences, which can be positive but can also run the risk of being botched if you are poorly served.

For reasons I will never understand, Oregon does not require a divorce mediator to have a law degree, but I required it of myself. I spent three years earning my J.D., and I've spent 21 years using it on behalf of Portland-area families. I committed myself not to cut corners and try to do this work without a law degree. A few others others do -- even now -- and there's nothing to stop them except the public choosing to require better.

A divorce mediator needs to have earned a law degree, not just a desk down the hall from someone who did -- or, worse yet, only that person's phone number. Since 2005, I've provided a service that I knew could come no other way than the legal training that I took the time to obtain.

Choosing a mediator who understands the legal landscape isn't just about credentials—it is a practical safeguard for your family’s future. Attempting to resolve property division and support obligations with a generalist can lead to agreements that the court or your bank simply cannot process.

With a Juris Doctor (law) degree and 21 years of experience as a full-time family law mediator, my practice is built on the "Ohana" philosophy—the principle that no one in the family is left behind or forgotten.

I look out for the interests of the entire family unit, paying strict attention to the details, both big and small, that ensure a settlement is actually durable. I identify the logistical and financial nuances that others miss, so your family can move forward with a foundation that holds.

Law-trained guidance should be accessible and not cost-prohibitive. For 21 years, I have consistently maintained the lowest fees of any law-degreed mediator in the Portland metro area. In fact, my fees are also lower than all but one of the people who do this work without a law degree.
